It stayed open longer than expected, but (as of yesterday when I walked by) Surya India at 8048 West 3rd Street now has papered windows, allowing for the transformation to The Burger Factory to begin.

Heading toward Fairfax at the former Celadon space at 7910 West 3rd Street, the exterior of the incoming Thai restaurant (which, a B+S reader notes is also owned by the Celadon Group) has been painted a stark white (see after the jump).

Just a quick look at soon-to-open Chili Addiction at 408 North La Cienega Boulevard. Per Eater LA, it could be this Wednesday, we’ll see. One thing’s for sure, the whole thing (inside, too, check after the jump) is very, very red…just in case you forgot they served chili here.

Meanwhile, Ronin Izakaya Bistro across the street at 359 North La Cienega Boulevard is clearly no longer remodeling, as its signage indicated back in November. The ‘for lease’ sign is up and the restaurant’s site is down.

This is not good. I’ve worked out exactly once this week, and now I find out today is World Nutella Day. Squid Ink counts down 10 spots around town to get your Nutella fix in myriad form—donuts to gelato to sandwiches—but really, why would I go further than #4 on the list, Joan’s On Third right out my backdoor, which serves up moist pound cake with swirls of the chocolate hazelnut-y goodness? It’s $5 for an individual loaf and $1.95 by the slice (see a close-up after the jump). I’ve indulged before and this monumental day seems like just the justification to indulge again.

I mentioned I was on my way to Little Next Door Saturday night, which turned out to be a sausage fest in the best way. I ordered the merguez sandwich, which comes in can’t-finish proportions (yet, I almost did!), with fries and sides of a spicy, red concoction and hummus for dipping. The waiter cautioned that the sandwich is spicy, but that was all good news to me.
