When I think asymmetrical, I think bad ’80s ‘dos. Bad, because, let’s face it, that shit was really hard to pull off, whether going for the hip hop or punk variety. Of course, it all got co-opted by the mainstream - think Molly Ringwald a la Pretty in Pink in her palatable pseudo-sub-culture get-ups - and you knew it was over. Preen has taken asymmetrical from head to pointy toe with its suede stilettos in black, white, or stone. The ankle straps are elastic, which likely adds comfort, though I can’t say for sure because I haven’t tried them on. One thing is for sure: they look hot, and are going fast online at Seven New York, $425 price tag and all.
