A couple years ago, I interviewed colorist Rita Hazan for Variety’s now-defunct lifestyle pub V-Life. I have never colored my hair, but Hazan will be forever stamped on my memory by virtue of her lovely-locked clientele. I don’t care that these women are famous - let’s just take the Jennifers: Esposito, Lopez, Connelly - I do care that these women always have gorgeous manes in equally gorgeous, suitable hues, thanks to Hazan. This is a woman who knows her craft.
Up until now, West Coasters had to catch Hazan in NYC at her 5th Avenue Salon - that is, unless you’re Jessica Simpson, in which case you fly Hazan out to tend to your tendrils. Beginning April 29th, Hazan will devote one Sunday every four or five weeks to L.A. clients, setting up shop at Cristophe. A stylist will accompany to attend to all cut and color needs. Her expertise, of course, does not come on the cheap: single process, $350; double process, $750. For more info and future scheduling, email angela@ritahazansalon.com.
