FYI, Scout, Polkadots & Moonbeams, Immoni: Luth Garde is giving your stock of vintage a run for its money. This is the thing, walk by Luth Garde and the hyper-embellished concoctions - hand-dyed lace, silk, knits, beads, hardware from a bullfighting costume (seriously!) - are either for you, or decidedly not for you. They are for Vanessa Paradis (shown below), who has a half dozen of Filipino designer Luth Garda’s (changed the ‘a’ to an ‘e’ for the store) pieces. Per Tahlia Barbers, Garda’s daughter and co-owner of Luth Garde, her mom had five stores in the Philippines and dressed a host of celebs there. But even if you’re more of a minimalist, don’t let that dissuade you from checking out Garda’s new boutique - officially opened last Saturday - because there is pristine, well-edited and well-priced vintage to be had. Many dresses range from $30-$50; $100-$150 is at the high-end here. Of course, if you want to spend $16 and do some digging, then Jet Rag on La Brea is the ticket, but this is vintage shopping made easy… and right around the corner.
