Here it is people, the opening margarita-swiller - read, open margarita bar - for Equator Vinyl, which I blogged about a couple weeks ago. Housed at the rear of Equator Books on Abbot Kinney, the shindig runs from 7:00PM-11:00PM this Saturday, May 5th with music by DJ Ice. Get there by 9:00PM or pay a $10 cover charge, which is way less cool than not paying. What’s in store? More than 2,000 vintage vinyl titles - from jazz, blues, reggae, and soul/funk to classic rock and punk - selling for $15-$1,500. Accompanying the collection will be USB-compatible turntables, rare rock posters, and, of course, music books. Plan on future events at EV like record release parties, signings, and live performances. The dudes behind Equator, owners Philip Fracassi and Michael Deyemond, will be bringing you Equator Films at a later date, billed in a recent press release as “an entity developed to turn under-the-radar and long abandoned books into film properties”.
