Let me preface this by saying that these images suck ass. They do not give the food justice, but there are limitations to my trusty PowerShot S500. So, me and the mister finally got back over to Tasca since it’s gotten its liquor license. Old news I know, but this is what happened. We went there once, and had the conversation: ‘This is delicious… some wine would be nice.’ And then the months passed and we wondered if Tasca would stay afloat because you could hear crickets in there. When we finally went back, we couldn’t get in because the place was booked for the night. At any rate, last night we got in at 9:00PM and it was fantastic. The staff was friendly and treated us like we want to be treated - like neighbors. Tasca has won. It won the battle for the liquor license, and I can tell you I will frequent Tasca over A.O.C., which feels more like an L.A. scene (with L.A. scene prices) than my neighborhood spot. I didn’t get a pic but here’s a tip: the moules frites, a $13 small plate, is an incredible deal. A full meal in a saffron broth that literally made me swoon.
Another small plate: the boudin noir is black sausage, topped with sauteed apple and onion, served with mashed potatoes; only $12, it’s rich but surprisingly delicate.
Yet, another small plate: the arancini con pomodoro, risotto fritters filled with fontina cheese, is $9 of deliciousness.
I don’t think I have to sell anyone on chocolate pot de creme - awesome, and, lucky us, on the house! That’s ‘hoodie treatment I can get down with.

We ate there last night. I had been wanting to check it out after reading your post awhile back.
We walked by around 6:30 and the place was dead we looked at the menu and told the staff we would like stop by for dinner after we ran our errands.
We came back alittle before 8PM (last night Sat) and the hosted said we would have to sit at the bar. There were tables free and a the night progressed there were more and more tables free.
The bar tender was great so we were not unhappy with the bar. His name was Ludwig. I would never remember that except it was odd. He talked us into ordering 5 plates and we had 3 glasses of wine. We ended up spending what we would spend at Morton’s or Ruths Chris but the feel of the place was so warm and inviting and cozy and neighbor like. The food was incredible. We loved it. The wine was also great so smooth and easy.
Thank you so much for the encouragement to try it.
