BLACKBURN AND SWEETZER

I’m not a graphic novel head, but I do like reading and looking at cool illustrations, so in that sense, I find graphic novels a very positive thing. I don’t know Cecil Castellucci or Jim Rugg, but Cecil is a young adult writer and I was once a kid and liked to read like crazy even then, so it makes me predisposed to her. As for Jim Rugg (he’s known for ‘Street Angel’), I like this cover art, so that’s enough for me. Meet Cecil at Secret Headquarters in Silver Lake for a signing Thursday, May 24th from 8:00PM-10:00PM. Drink a beer and ask Cecil how M Bar went earlier this month, where she performed stand-up for the first time. If she didn’t have every friend and family member there, it was probably awful. Which is to say nothing bad about her, but just the nature of the (sometimes hilarious) beast.
