Event: 10th Annual Art & Design Walk + More High-Priced Condos

June 1st, 2007 · 2 Comments

Before you get raucous on Sunday at the Los Feliz Street Fair (see post below), take a stroll down Beverly, Robertson, and Melrose in West Hollywood for the Art & Design Walk on Saturday, June 2nd (4:00PM-8:00PM). Highlights include cool chairs by FIDM grads at Walker-Zanger, a designer table exhibit at PDC, an auction to benefit Inner-City Arts and performances by the Inner-City Arts Choir. From the list, it seems like virtually all the boutiques in the area participate. Plus, John Laing Homes will be hawking its swanky Madrone condos going up at La Brea and Hollywood, literally, on the street corner - albeit a nice one, at Beverly and Robertson. I went on livemadrone.com and there’s even a construction webcam…

Madrone: ‘A beautiful shell of aesthetic expression & modern inclination’

Well, this shell starts at $500,000 for a 700 square-foot studio and runs up to $1,000,000 for a 2,300 square-foot townhome. Studios to three-bedrooms are called ‘flats’ on the site. Yeah, nice try. This isn’t London; this is La Brea and Hollywood and you’re not going to gloss over half a mill for 700 square feet.

Still it’s better than just calling everything a loft. I also enjoy the “cherry cola accent color.”

I think this building (Madrone) is going to be amazing. Check out the website and the renderings. It will be exciting to watch this building take shape…
