The Softlightes at The Silver Lake Lounge

Just thought I’d give a recap of the Softlightes show at the Silver Lake Lounge I blogged about in anticipation earlier this week. The band had just come off touring in London, Paris, and Australia. Frontman Ron Fountenberry (pictured above) said performances in Australia were particularly amazing; I could definitely see how crowds of 30,000 singing along to every word could be incredibly seductive. And then it’s back to L.A., the Silver Lake Lounge, performing to a decidedly smaller crowd. But, alas, that’s the ebb and flow of being a creative person. The set included songs from the band’s latest album - Say No! To Being Cool. Say Yes! To Being Happy - new songs they’d never performed live before, and, as a result from an audience member request ‘1983′ from Electric Pocket Radio, the album Fountenberry put out when his band was The Incredible Moses Leroy. My husband describes ‘1983′ as a monster song, and it is. The crowd lost their shit, including a dude at least 6-foot-6 in front of me who ran in from the back when he heard the first note. Like George Costanza, the Softlightes ended on a high note, and that was the end. Fountenberry has the ability to always leave you wanting more, a feeling akin to sexual frustration. I say, give us more, give us more!

The band rockin’ out.

Losing her shit in a good way.

The ‘1983′ effect.
