OK, I know it’s not nearly as much of a sojourn as, say, Abbot Kinney, but me and the husband walked to the Melrose Place Farmers’ Market on Sunday, which was a nice jaunt and packed with little discoveries - including this container-looking house along the way. I think what threw me is that the container thing is usually done to look super modern, but this house has much more traditional details. There was even a stained-glass window hiding behind the tree. Frankly, I’m not a fan of the container-as-residence, since I’d rather not live in a trailer.
Poppies Popsicles, which sets up shop at the Melrose Place Farmers’ Market, are incredibly tasty. Created by sisters Sarah and Sophia Green and inspired by their Mexican heritage, the all-natural, organic treats come in six flavors: Alfalfa, Hibiscus, Pico de Gallo, Cocoa, Pecan, and Strawberry. Buy one for $2.50-$2.75, or bring home six for $12 or ten for $20; they’ll pack up a baggy with ice to make sure your Poppies stay frozen. I tried Pecan, which was all creamy goodness.
Seriously, nothing against Bird boutique, which carries some great designers, but these manequins are creep-o-rama times three.
Kumo sushi at Melrose and Kings Road (where Citrine used to be) was supposed to open in March. It’s still shuttered, but has hiring signs up…
Fancy-schmancy Italian home design store, Bisazza Mosaico, is coming to Melrose, north side of the street between Orlando and Kings Road and across from Sweet Lady Jane.

Container house has been sitting there a long time. I think it actually is a fake facade to a more traditional ’20’s home sitting behind it.
Hard to know for sure that the out of place fireplace chimmny seems like a real clue.
I see similar bad facades put on these homes done from time to time when people want to expand the sq ft in the front of the property by putting the house at the front set back line. The typical home built in the 20’s had a 3rd of the front portion of the house set near the setback. then the other 2 - 3rds were stagard to give the place some character.
The trend now a days is for sq ft not character. so there you go
