Harper Avenue Duplex

I have to say, out of all the new condos going up, this one on Harper north of Melrose is the nicest. I like the way the deep wood and Asian plants and trees warms the exterior. It’s certainly taller than its neighbor but it doesn’t take over like a giant on the block. I couldn’t tell if both units were sold or not, and, thusly, no info on pricing, but the Porsche out front should give some indication.

They look nice but they don’t fit into the neighborhood. Look the homes next to it are single family 1920’s homes.

I am guessing that a 1920’s spanish duplex was torn down for this.

I also have a problem with walling in and hedging in front yards. It makes otherwise safe walkable inviting neighborhoods less safe (fewer views of what’s happening) and less inviting.

Although the duplex is out of character for the neighborhood (mostly spanish bungalows, etc.), I don’t mind. So long as it’s aesthetically pleasing, which I think this duplex is, then I’m all for it. I love the colors, clean lines, and modern architecture.
