Pixie Market Opens on 3rd!

The exclamation mark is to denote my unabashed delight about the new retail addition to the ‘hood. Pixie Market, which bowed in NYC in October and LA last weekend, is helmed by owners/buyers Gaelle Drevet and Magda Pietrobelli, two friendly beauties who want to bring designers from all over the world - UK, France, Australia, Japan, Thailand, US - right to you at surprisingly reasonable prices. Most items are under $200, with some $30 accessories thrown in amongst splurge-worthy pieces like a Richard Ruiz (NYC) kimono dress in-store right now for $499. They like prints and they like dresses, so you’ll find a nice selection from Orion (London), Sullivan Sullivan (their in-house label), and Margo (London), among others. You’ve likely seen Drevet and Pietrobelli’s shoe line Maud in fashion press or at American Rag, which has already sold out in many styles at Pixie Market NYC for the season. The flats are an immediate favorite, made in buttery soft leather with bold buckles or studs.

Though the merch is new, Pixie Market has mastered that vintage-modern appeal that can so easily teeter into kitsch, but is fresh through Drevet and Pietrobelli’s lens. The same can be said of the boutique space, which is awash in a bright white and carefully furnished with vintage finds from the Rose Bowl and other flea markets in the area. They’ve even been approached by someone who styles windows and boutiques on Melrose Place trying to buy a particular mirror from the store - that was within the first 24 hours of being open. Look out for new pieces coming in weekly that you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the US, let alone LA.

A view from the inside out.

The boutique.

Pretty dresses on gold hangers.

More dresses.

A swing dress with pockets from their in-house line, Sullivan Sullivan, can’t be beat (left). Red,white, and blue never looked so good as on this Orion dress with sweet buttons at the collar (right).

The aforementioned gorgeous kimono dress by Richard Ruiz (left). Another Orion dress in a sunny print (right).

Maud shoes, love ‘em.

These adorable clutches are around $30.

Decorous decals on one wall (left) and on the ceiling (right).
