Aurelie Sheehan is an author and the Director of the Creative Writing Program at University of Arizona. She was also my manuscript adviser in grad school - smart, patient, thoughtful, and an overall great person throughout the process. Her novel History Lesson for Girls just came out in paperback, available on Amazon for $11.20 or your local bookstore for $14. I blazed through it myself, a story of a 13-year-old dealing with the physical and social ramifications of scoliosis (wearing a back brace in junior high is definitely not cool) and the excesses of the ’70s (a snort-filled, New Age-y paradise about to topple). It’s subtle and moving and another reason why people should support and buy literature. Check out an excerpt here.

Hello
I have had scoliosis for many years. In fact it started when I was nine years old. My parents never liked the idea of surgery, so we were introduced to this new Spincor Brace, it changed my life. if you want more info on it go to http://www.scoliosisspecialist.com . well I really enjoyed reading your blog. thank you.
