La Garconne is the latest online boutique to launch an editorial element to its site, dubbed Le Magazine. The line between commerce and editorial continues to blur with Vogue’s September issue, which has a whopping 87% advertising to its 13% editorial, which, I have to say, is not only annoying but a bit disgusting. On the other hand, e-boutiques like Shopbop and La Garconne are giving print editorial a run for its money. Why not just check out Shopbop’s latest Lookbook, which is free, rather than buying another fash mag? Which is not to say that print editorial is obsolete. People who really follow fashion will continue to buy Vogue, but where the idea of a boutique producing editorial would’ve seemed blasphemous to the editorial community before, now, is just another outlet you have to pay attention to if you want to keep up.
