Emmy Awards Gifting, Part I: Sonya Dakar Rooftop

The Emmy Awards are this Sunday, September 16th, so without further ado, let the gifting begin. I went to the Sonya Dakar 4th Annual Emmy Beauty Boot Camp & Gifting Lounge yesterday, which was eco-ed to the max. Check the big bag-o-stuff put together by the peeps behind GreenGirlGuide.com, worth over $700: highlights include vegetarian makeup and brushes from The Body Shop; formaldehyde-free SpaRitual nail lacquers; Yes organic lubricant, so you’re even green down there; Deborah Linquist ‘reincarnated’ cashmere cap; Fair Trade made Organic Fiji lotions; paraben-free Tarte Lip Sheers with natural mineral sunscreen; and more.

Besides getting free products, there were also gratis services: hair styling by CHI Professional; vegan manicures and pedicures by SpaRitual; mink lash application by Fab’Lous Lashes by Ja’Maal Buster; private training from The Sports Club/LA; and, apparently, Sonya Dakar facials, which I didn’t even know were going on.

New clutches and bags from Cecelia. The line has all these little brooches that can clip on pretty much anything - bag, shoes, shirt, etc.

ICIO Peppermint Water in flask-like bottles. I have to say, it was quite refreshing, but I’m really trying to not buy water in plastic bottles. ABS was representing with a rack of dresses.

Vanilla Bake Shop goodies. Like a crazy person, I didn’t try any of them. Some sort of auction situation on the right.

The non-VIP gift bags with a lot of sample-y things, Yes lube included. Dry Soda comes in kumquat, rhubarb, lemongrass, and lavender. Tried lavender and kumquat and liked the mildly sweet drink.

These two are the Gelber sisters (I think, could be Geller…). Before you hate the aspiring actresses (yes, of course, they’re aspiring actresses) for being so young and L.A.-ed out, the sisters are quite charming. Gave me the whole Dry Soda spiel and were fun to chat with. They moved from Missouri or some such place and have yet to be fully tainted by Hollywood. So, good luck girls and try to retain that Missouri or whatever that is in you that is nice and sweet and not annoying. On the right is Ja’Maal Buster of Fab’lous Lashes, who gave me some really pretty fake lashes.
