I got some scoop on what’s going to be taking the place of the Chinese Festival at 3rd and Sweetzer. A lease is supposed to be signed this week for an organic, mid-range Mediterranean cafe. I spoke briefly to the new owner (or, who seemed to be the new owner) and he said it will be healthy, with a lot of vegetarian options, but with some meat on the menu as well. Entrees to run around $10-$15. Sounds good to me. I’m all for more mid-range options in the neighborhood.

This is awesome news. I used to live a couple blocks away from that Chinese restaurant, and it was hands-down the worst Chinese food I’d ever eaten. Unbearably salty (and I love salt) and just plain bad. I’m amazed it stayed open as long as it did. We need a good Mediterranean place in the neighborhood, now that Noura Cafe and Eat-a-Pita are both gone (no great loss, food-wise).
