I was browsing on Le Train Bleu (a fantastic online boutique, its brick and mortar in Portland, Oregon, which I will have to check out the next time I’m there) and came across these coats and loving every single one of them, before it dawned on me a few seconds later that it’s the same label as a chocolate brown wool and leather coat in my closet - namely, Mackage, based in Montreal, Quebec. The selection at Le Train Bleu ranges from $517-$748, and I do believe these coats to be worth the investment. Mackage creates classic coats with fashion-y flourish - high collars, leather details, a palette that ventures beyond the usual staples. Granted the husband and I visited my parents in Washington State and we spent Thanksgiving in Santa Fe, but I was amazed at how much use I got out of the coat even in fall/winter L.A. It’s the kind of topper that instantly dresses things up a bit.
