Last week, I made it over to Venice for a viewing of Ladjili Jewelry (formerly Siren Jewelry), created by once-model, once-grade-schoolteacher Veronica Ladjili, a Brazilian who originally hails from Marin County. The collection ranges anywhere from around $50-$1,000 with many choices falling between $100-$300. What I really appreciate about the line is that most pieces are offered in either 14kt or gold filled chain, the gold filled bringing the price down a bit if you so choose. There’s a vintage quality to the pieces, with a kind of modern trinket and charm feeling but with gorgeous, high-quality stones (endless varieties of aquamarine, quartz, amethyst, topaz, moonstones, crystals, and more) paired with 24kt-dipped sand dollars, abalone, coral, and starfish. The sea is ever-present in the collection, which has an earthly quality in composition, but also from its maker; Ladjili, in fact, blesses each piece. In fact, spiritual channeling runs in her family and is something Ladjili is very committed to. But even if blessings and chakras are not your thing, the line is simply very pretty and seems to exist outside the current trendmill of jewelry.
