You know you’ve entered swank when Molton Brown is now considered a bit too pedestrian to offer as in-room hotel bath amenities. The Peninsula, which used to carry Molton Brown has just switched to the newer, schmancy line, Davi, a skin care collection created by Carlo Cesare Robert Mondavi, grandson to Robert Mondavi and an ex-professional snowboarder. He fits the part too, tall, blond, tan, that snow-surfer look, which I’m sure doesn’t hurt sales. The sell is the line’s secret Meritage anti-aging concoction - a mix of high level antioxidants like grape leaf, fermented wine extracts, grape and green tea, combined with bilberry, black currant oils, olive, raspberry, rosemary, and soybean. Davi products run from $25 for a men’s shave cream to $175 for a tub of its Le Grand Cru Face Cream (bergdorfgoodman.com), so my suggestion is to snag as much of the stuff as you can the next time you stay at any of The Peninsula hotels. I have yet to try all the products out that were gifted at the Davi event earlier this week in one of the hotel’s suites, but I can say that I received a very lovely hand massage with the lotion, which made me look forward to trying out the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and itty-bitty pot of Le Grand Cru Face Cream.
