This time for the 3rd Street block party, Douglas Fir took a cue from Rodan vs Griffith and had a taco stand set up, serving up deliciousness. There was a line down the block and the place was packed inside with all eyes on Esquivel shoes; the owner and shoemakers came up from Orange County to take custom orders. The shoes are several hundred dollars on up, but they are pretty spectacular.
Joan’s on Third had wine and snacks, as did most of the retailers. Noodle Stories had gelato once again. And Flight 001 had some great drawings and giveaways and some incredibly delectable homemade cake. Rodan vs Griffith was showing art (shown below) from Christopher Bettig, who was a display director for Urban Outfitters. Impressively, he produced the series in a marathon three days. There was beer on tap and deals at Kingsbury. Live models at and a bunch of eco designers at Avita Co-op.
The husband and I, and some other folks, ended up at the photog studio above Rodan vs Griffith, which is absolutely ginormous. The images below don’t particularly give it justice, but do give a bit of an idea.
Once again, it was really cool to see that many people out on 3rd Street. I do really wish the block could do it more often, as people seem not only come from the neighborhood but from around the city for it.

So that’s a photog studio. I assumed that when the building was built that someone had put a home up there. With that big balcony in the front with the draps.
I didnn’t ened up going on, my partner was stuck at work and I had got lazy with dogs on my lap and glass of wine in my hand. Darn I would have loved to have seen insided that place.
