I wondered about this myself, not sure what the business is, but I believe the sign is a reference to the Mobil Oil Pegasus logo. It is also painted on the side of a closed gas station on La Cienega, right before you turn off for the airport.

Curbed LA had a write up about this symbol sometime ago, before it showed up on this spot. I thin they attributed it to an artist I believe. And this spot has in the past housed different artists.

yeah, it’s a semi-famous graffiti artist; I thought I had bookmarked his site but apparently not. he’s out there, some smart googling might turn up the site. sorry I don’t have the link for ya here.
