Blackburn Condos - More Pseudo Mediterranean

The putty-like hues and the wrought iron… looks like thee condos on Blackburn, just west or Orlando, are also taking on a faux Mediterranean vibe. When I posted about them previously, there was still so much possibility for some actual design and architecture, but it seems it will not be so. The new edifice is going down a similar generic path as the Sweetzer apartments, with the added bonus to its neighbors of being several levels taller than the rest. I’m sure they’re thrilled.

I don’t think these look as bad as the sweetzer apartments. However, it’s insane how much taller they are then the ajoining properties.

It looks like they did try alittle, so I give them credit for that. It does look ackward compared to the neighbors heightwise. I am surprised though to see so many tear downs in the neighborhood south of this. I guess the R.E. market must be picking up. I used to be a proponent of tear downs but now after seeing so many poorly designed homes I finally agree with Alex.

Now imagine how much bigger this would be under SB 1818 or any other kind of inclusionary zoning.

Yes it is amazing how many homes have been torn down in the last 12 months in my hood.

On my block we have 2 news homes that are nearing completion. Fortunately I have a few nieghbors whom in the last year have purchased the homes on adjoining lots and started to restore them. Thus saving them from being torn down. I hope that I don’t have to face that dilema with any of my adjoining neighbors.

As a developer I am saddened by the way other cheap ass developers try to save a few dollars by replacing real architectural treatments with color and cheap plaster…soo sad!

Oh Brady I am not scared of SB1818. If they had put in a few units at below market rate instead of strictly selling them all at 1 million or 900k then it would be worth it.
