The spaciousness (2,260-square-feet) with ample yard and kitchen are the highlights of this 3 bedroom, 2 bath at 6717 Drexel Avenue, just east of San Vicente. If you check the site, you’ll see there are some less fortunate pictures as well, but it seems like a solid house, a house that could be really nice with some changes and different furnishings. But it always comes back to this - $1.383 million? Really? Still? You can just get so much more for your money if you head east, even Los Feliz, which isn’t that much east.

This is house is a wee bit over priced. Not becasue it’s a complete tear down but because the kitchen remodel is all wrong, the bathroom with the extra sink is unexpected, the color of the house is over the top and the back yard hasn’t been staged, landscaped or pooled.
If they listed it at 1.1 it would sell in a week. If they listed it at 1.2 it would sell in 2 months.
Priced as it is it will sit for 6 months.

Its funny, the contractor who did this kitchen gave me an estimate for my kitchen. He took me to this home to show me his work. I ultimately went with another contractor, not that he did much better though. I agree with Alex’s assessments, the extra sink is very bizarre. For this price I would rather buy a home in Calabasas or Westlake Village.

I toured this house and found it to be wonderfully remodeled. If you have an appreciation for the period the houses in this area were built to, and are disappointment with the McMansions that are destroying this great neighborhood, you will love this house. The Art-Deco bathroom speaks worlds of an era gone by. The bright outside color does make you take a step back at first, but does go with the Spanish flair of the house.
I not sure how anyone could imply that its a complete tear down.

I did’t mean to imply it was a tear down. If you read my email I say that it is not a complete tear down. However, I think the kitchen remodel is a nightmare. And at that price you are paying for someone else’s poor choices.

I have had the chance to enjoy this home as a guest… and this kitchen is a cooks/chef’s dream. With two large ovens, ample counter space, two oversized cutting boards, and it works well in a “triangluar” way that architects boast to do a remodel. and fabulous cabinets that seem endless. The open air of the wall being taken down between the dining room and kitchen welcomes people to hang out in both rooms as the meals are created. And just a comment regarding the “extra” sink… that is a 20’s style (when the home was originally built) - what they used to call a toothbrush sink…it only has cold water… whether or not it is used or not is another question…but the bathrooms are original. Too bad today’s market is having trouble standing by this selling price.. I am sure it is very much worth it.

I love, love, love the bathroom — don’t you people get Art Deco? The kitchen remodel looks great, clean and totally user-friendly. The entire property is spacious and has a huge living room area. I know the market is down now, but until very recently this house would have been an absolute bargain at this price.

I like the bathrooms. I love original tile. I live less then 2 blocks from this house in a similiar home with a much better kitchen.
The only thing about the bathroom is that extra sink is odd.
The kitchen doesn’t make sense even for a cook. The flow between the sink, stove, fridge isn’t logical the counter space is not logical the open wall would be great if it weren’t for the hood.
Trust me there are much better things you can do with a kitchen. I know I have done them.

Well it appears these owners are very open minded people and do listen to suggestions.
I passed by this house this morning and discovered it has been painted. Looks very nice. Certainly not as bold as it use to be.

I noticed the same thing the other day. I have to say they do have some of the best local agents trying to sell this house. I believe it’s Steve and Zee and they have done some pretty significant work in the area. They aren’t like other realitors that just list a house.
