A tipster emailed me about this (I think) rental on Blackburn. What’s up with the fence-age?

Looks like we are about to lose more of our city’s and neighborhood’s architectural history.

Blackburn seems to be the one street that tears down these duplexes and builds condos.

yep, it was a rental. The owner had a very interesting lease, which he tried to get us to sign but we didnt. The gist of it was that you agreed to a price of (X+$1000). If you paid that amount before the tenth of the month, you would get a refund of $1000. So, although you wrote a check for X, the lease indicated an amount of (X+1000). So then, after 12 months, when he raises your rent the allowed 4%, that 4% is based on (X+1000), not just X. Not legal at all, but if you sign it, its a done deal.
That guy was a real piece of work. Ill bet the new building will be cheap, ugly and shoddy. Im sure the trees out front will go down as well.
