This home at 6666 Drexel Avenue was purchased April 2nd for 1,015,000 after being on the market for 3 days and never had a sign, according to neighbors. The house has been sitting with no action, no one moving in and no one starting to remodel, until this week when a geological was done on the property. The assumption is that it will be torn down soon and replaced with a McMansion.
This Spanish revival home was built in 1926. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath in 1,350 sq ft and on an aprox. 6,000 sq ft lot with a pool. It is on a block of Drexel that has not yet had any tear downs.
This house is one block east of these two listings:

and previously discussed much liked and still for sale:

We will post pictures in the future to document the future of this home or lot, whichever may be.

The days of McMansions in LA ended last month: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laland/2008/05/no-more-mcmansi.html. Hopefully someone will renovate this property.

Alysia,
Unfortunately the new controls in place would only limit a home to being about 3,600 sq ft on a 6,000 sq ft house. There is only one home in this neighborhood that exceeds those limits.
What the new controls has stopped is only the most extreme examples of what could be built. So that said I will track the future of this home and lot. If you would like to wager on if the home is torn down let me know.
