It’s ridiculous that it took the husband and I so long to get to the Hollywood Bowl, but Feist and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings lured us last Sunday to make the urban trek and it was well worth the haul. In fact, it was really fun and quite lovely. We packed a picnic (using this spectacular basket and set we got for our wedding—thanks, Tonette!) with some friends, parked at Hollywood & Highland, and then took the $3 shuttle to the Bowl.
We met our friends way up at the top picnic spot, laid out a blanket, ate, hung out, drank some vino and looked out over LA. Have to say, it was pretty amazing, and the show hadn’t even started. We had decent seats, although I was glad we brought our binoculars. Lead singer Silvana Kane of Pacifika came out in a tulled black and pink strapless number, a good start to the show. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings followed, and we were pretty blown away by what an incredible performer and singer Sharon Jones is. She’s one of those singers that sounds even better in person, a real powerhouse. This is the second time we’ve seen Feist, so clearly we’re fans. It was interesting, as she definitely had to work at getting the audience really into it, as compared to the time we saw her at the Universal Amphitheater—different venue, different crowd, same rock star. It really was a great show and overall experience. So, if you’re like us (I couldn’t believe how many people I talked to prior that also hadn’t been to the Bowl yet), and haven’t been, it’s worth the bit of effort. I do think parking off-site was a good move though. Way less headache before and after the show.
A view from our seats
These are the people at the very front at tables; it was crazy because here they are so close and none of them were getting into it—not even nodding their head to the music

I don’t get the people who go to concerts and almost seemed annoyed that there is music. The people sitting next to me didn’t know any of the performers. Great show nonetheless!
