B+S Dreams—Green Spaces

The other day when I was walking to the gym, I saw a man and his dog hanging out, the pooch doing his business, in the open space next to the faux-Mediterranean apartments on Sweetzer, just north of West 3rd Street. There were apartments there until late August, when the complex was torn down.

Now, I have a lot of dreams—to have perfectly gorgeous, intelligent, lovely children; to be able to give back to my parents in some significant and meaningful way; to own a home in this neighborhood; to never have to worry about my weight again (these are dreams, people); and the list goes on…

But that day seeing the man and his doggie, I added another dream to the list—taking these empty lots around the neighborhood (there are two, I believe, on Blackburn alone) and making them into green spaces. Mini dog parks. Community gardens. Perhaps a playground. Or wild flowers and benches. Someplace to read or ponder. It’s a thought.
