A look from Society for Rational Dress fall ‘09; a look from Raquel Allegra spring ‘09
The fate of LA Fashion Week has been looking pretty grim for sometime, but we finally get some good news from Trade Talk that three stellar LA labels—Society for Rational Dress, Raquel Allegra and Grai—will be kicking off the fall ‘09 shows in a team effort by Gen Art and BoxEight at the Los Angeles Theater Downtown Friday, March 13 at 7pm with an after-party to follow.
All the Rage reports that BoxEight founder Pete Gurnz says the fashion schedule “will include two more days of runway shows featuring at least 16 extra designers.”
The blog also notes that another a separate event, Downtown LA Fashion Week, “has two days of yet-to-be-announced fashion events scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, and has reportedly secured space at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.” Details are still to follow.
The fashion community will have to wait and see how this all comes together, but this trio of designers—Corinne Grassini for SfRD, Raquel Allegra and Maya Yogev for Grai—is a strong start and hopefully bodes well for what is to follow.
