Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make Zipper’s closing party, but luckily trusty commenter/contributor Alex the Sea Turtle was there to report that it was a nice event and by 7pm there were already around 30 people there to say their farewells to the longtime West 3rd Street retail resident and take in the flowing wine, cupcakes and taco truck set up outside:
“There were still a few things on sale/for sale. Some ridiculously cheap and others not so much. But very little was left. There were sharpies in different colors for writing on the large Zipper sign on the wall. [Owner] Elizabeth is still not going to commit to never coming back to LA or to coming back. She will only say that they are not selling their home in Studio City so the door is always open.”
Now, the owners are off to their Sonoma Zipper outpost, and we’ll have to be satisfied with shopping the lifestyle/decor store online.
