I’ve received a number of emails asking about flattering plus-sized clothes—bridal to cocktail to everyday. And though I can’t say I have expert knowledge in this area, the inquiries have prompted me to pay additional attention to this market.
I’ve been meaning to write about label Stop Staring!, a 1940s and ’50s-inspired label designed by LA-er Alicia Estrada, ever since the peeps at Shopflick clued me in about the line. In an array of fabrications—wool, wool blends, cotton, cotton blends, rayon, crepe and more—Estrada creates dresses, tops and playsuits with screen sirens in mind, and an aim to present the hourglass figure to match, from the lithest of ladies up to size 18. There are also half a dozen dresses each season made up to size 26.
Estrada counts Zooey Deschanel, Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton and others as wearers, each offering up some collision of Hollywood glamour and playful femininity. The clincher is the price tag, which is usually under $150. Check a curated selection and learn more at Shopflick.com, and the rest at Stopstaringclothing.com.
