Fashion press is taking note that Cali-based fast fashion retailer Forever 21 is launching a plus-sized line, Faith 21, on May 1 at Lakewood Center Mall, Montebello Town Center, Los Cerritos Mall, Anaheim Plaza and online. All the Rage reports the line, ranging from $3.50-$34.80, “will offer tops, jeans, tanks, leggings and skirts in a junior plus size as well as XL, 1X and 2X…everything from runway knockoffs to jersey basics.”
The LAT blog also points to another article in the paper discussing plus-sized shoppers and the fact that the average American woman is a size 14, “many who rarely find cute and inspiring clothes, especially when the majority of designers don’t often produce beyond a size 10.” Clearly, there’s an untapped market here. Will be interesting to see if other fast fashion retailers start following suit if Faith 21 becomes a huge hit.
