I have yet to eat at Ortolan at 8338 West 3rd Street. In fact, I have yet to step inside the pretty, Michelin-star French restaurant, though I do say hello at times to the staff smoking a cig or taking a break out back in the alley, usually as I trek to Joan’s on Third. The main reason is the cost, the whole thing just feels expensive without even looking at the prices (though those aren’t on the menu, another indication of its pricey status).

Whether I’ve inflated the actual cost in my head or not, there may be some hope. Daily Dish reports Chef Christophe Émé has included less expensive ‘Nibbles,’ or small plates to the menu, which range from $6-$14 and are avail Tue-Sat from 6pm to close: “they include short ribs with a potato soufflé and herb salad; pork confit with chickpea and gelée; salmon with lemongrass and ponzu.”

There’s also a Sunday brunch launching this Sunday, March 8, offered from 11am-3pm, which includes an appetizer, main course and dessert for $45/person plus tax and tip. Add onto that a price reduction to the eight-course seduction menu, dropping from $110/person to $80/person and avail until 9:30pm daily. It does look extremely elegant.
