La Terza exterior from Daily Dish; click to expand
I’m very excited about news from Daily Dish (and B+S reader Alex, thanks!) that La Terza at the Orlando Hotel (where I Food Marathon-ed) will be transforming into a more reasonably-priced Minestraio, still helmed by chef Gino Angelini and co-chef-owner Gianluca Sarti:
“the slightly formal La Terza will become a more-casual trattoria focusing heavily on handcrafted pastas and traditional dishes, such as handmade tortellini in chicken broth, butternut squash-filled tortelli in butter and sage sauce, rigatoni all’ Amatriciana, fusilli with lamb ragù and mint, agnolotti di osso buco, rotisserie chicken and beef tagliata al balsamico.”
In terms of prices, Sarti told the blog “the check average per diner aimed at $16 to $28. The wine list is 18 regional Italian vintages for less than $50 a bottle (six wines by the glass are available from $6 to $9), and the corkage fee is only $15.”
Test dinners begin today and tomorrow, with the new menu debuting to the public this weekend!

La Terza’s food was always good, but it seemed like there was something missing with the experience. Maybe the new incarnation will be more accessible at a lower price point.

I am very happy about this. I thought the place was to expensive and stuffy the one time I ate there. Now it looks like they are going to provide some competition for the new Cucina down the block from them.

I’m anxious about this. I loved La Terza for good food and a quiet place that isn’t a hassle. Cheaper is good if the quality stay, but (not to sound like too much of a curmudgeon) I kinda liked that it was quiet and usually empty there.
