I’ve long been a fan of Alternative Apparel and its eco-line Alternative Earth—my tees and tanks from the label always in heavy rotation.
Wednesday night marked the launch of Alternative’s ‘Think Earth‘ bi-annual campaign at the Sunset Marquis Hotel, which includes Think Earth products (including the awesome heather green tee above), benefiting a soon-to-be-named charity, and ‘Think Earth’ magazine, highlighting notable efforts to help the environment and social issues such as education, community and health. Profiles range from chef/author Akasha Richmond and photog/ANTM judge Nigel Barker to Lukas Haas and Amy Smart to the women behind IdealBite.com and New Moon Skin Care creator Amy Leavell Bransford.
The event, set outside the Restaurant with twinkling lights, small bites and cocktails, was quite laid back and lovely. Nicky Hilton (looking chic with pulled back hair, sheeny black leggings and blazer and leopard-print tank) chatted with LAT Booth Moore and People’s Revolution helmer Kelly Cutrone at a table, while there was a hefty crowd bar adjacent.

Cutrone, who’s known as the no-nonsense PR boss on The Hills and has also made turns on The City , was candid about her upcoming Bravo reality series, tentatively titled Kell on Earth: “Given the economy and fashion industry right now, it [the show] is really saving us.”
You can definitely count me in for this one—Cutrone has been in the fashion PR game for years and has worked with labels and designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Sass & Bide, Patricia Fields, Rachel Comey, Jeremy Scott and many others. Given her personality and experience, I think we can look forward to an actual lens—scary, stressful, sometimes glamorous, sometimes ugly—into the industry.
