The La Cienega Design Quarter, made up of 40 interior design merchants, along with Elle Decor and benefiting Habitat for Humanity Greater LA, will host its first ever ‘Legends of La Cienega‘ event, with tons of guided tours, book signings, exhibitions, panels, fashion shows, wine tasting and cocktail receptions and much more open to the public Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9.
Yesterday, I walked La Cienega and Melrose Place to check out the window displays—vignettes created by top designers honoring design legends of the past—a handful of which are shown above. I was initially a little overwhelmed looking at the map, but, in fact, it takes no time at all to wander from one showroom to the next, and I would encourage people to do the same, even just for part of one day.
Two events that piqued my interest: a Saturday talk at 2:30pm at The Red House Interiors with Trina Turk discussing ‘how fashion and interior design merge,’ followed by a 3:30pm fashion show across the street at Catherine Malandrino Maison, where the designer will be on a panel discussion ‘on Pop design in fashion and at home.’ There are 40-plus events, so be sure to check the schedule to see for yourself.
