Some updates on Rick Caruso’s Burton Way Project and Genton Barth Real Estate Group’s Wetherly Project.

Curbed reports that the mixed-use Burton Way project at La Doux Road, which will house 88 apartments and a Trader Joe’s, “was approved (with some conditions) yesterday by the planning and land use management committee, a move which sends it to the full city council vote.” Curbed’s take? “Caruso being Caruso, surely he charmed the pants off these locals.”

Meanwhile, the LAT reports that the 95-unit 14-story condo Wetherly Project, between Wetherly and Almont drives along West 3rd, “has met with opposition from neighbors, who criticize the building’s height and say that it is out of character with its neighborhood…last week, the City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee delayed a vote on the project, possibly until Councilman-elect Paul Koretz has had a chance to weigh in.”

I will say this—a Trader Joe’s within walking distance is incredibly alluring.

I agree. Trader Joe’s hurry up!

Beyond that it would be nice if this lot was used. I walk regularly to SLS and hate having to walk past this location as it currently exists.
