Of course, we all think of the moment of glamour, feeling fresh and new, leaving the salon with a new cut or color, but we don’t often think of the scalp outside of the depressing drugstore Head & Shoulders scenario. Steam Salon at 314 North Harper Avenue, just north of Beverly and steps from neighborhood fave restaurant Jar, keeps your hair and scalp in check with a slew of swoon-inducing treatments ranging from $25-$125.
I had the pleasure—and I mean serious pleasure, think about how good it feels just to get your hair washed—to try the salon’s Carita Exfoliating Treatment, an hour of exfoliating and massage that left me relaxed and my scalp tingly and revived. Amazingly, that feeling continued for days that followed.
Not only does the salon have a special relationship with Shiseido-owned Carita (usually only avail in Carita salons), but Steam owner Carla Gentile has also created a set of hair and scalp products, a few samples which she threw my way. I still have to try them out, so I’ll have to get back to you on that score…
