It’s true, people. Property owner Charlie Jacob (pictured above) of AJ Morgan has confirmed that Doughboys is coming back to its space at 8126 West 3rd Street, right in between Little Next Door and the new Satine space (two spaces that Jacob owns as well).

Jacob notes that everything’s coming back—the Doughboys menu and even some staff—including the man behind Doughboys, Frank Waldman, who Jacob says “will have a presence, but will not be managing.” Jacob explained he’s paying Waldman to have a presence, wants him to have a presence, after all, Waldman was his tenant for 17 years, but “managing was not his strong suit.”

So, expect the Doughboys food, but in a spiffy new package, replete with extended outdoor patio dining (Jacob took the front of the restaurant back to have more outdoor seating) and fancy, big retractable windows. As you may remember, I was not a fan of a wet rag smell I detected at Dougboys’ former incarnation, but this really looks like it’s going to be a nice improvement and will surely bring increased foot traffic to the area.

Jacob is aiming for an August 15 opening date, but of course, depends on construction.

I am glad the location is being cleaned up. In the future you will be able to still not find me ever eating there as I never cared for the food.

I like the improvement to the building, way over due. I did enjoy the desserts, it was a nice option for late night desserts but I agree with Alex regarding the majority of the food.

Not a fan of the food or Frank. Let’s hope he stays in the background. And let’s hope Charlie Jacob added in restaurant storage when he redesigned the Doughboys space, so they stop using the parking lot and adjacent duplex garage for storage.
