Blackburn + Sweetzer Has Moved

While meeting with property owner Charlie Jacob of AJ Morgan regarding Doughboys forthcoming reopening, he took me next door to Satine’s new space at 8140-8142 West 3rd Street, which he also owns (as I mentioned yesterday, along with the Little Next Door space) and is supposed to open possibly the first week of July.

It looks like a big space from the outside, as well as from the peek inside a while back, but, wow, walking around the empty boutique, it feels quite massive, especially as compared to its original shop across the street.

The bottom level has the main floor and three open but compartmentalized areas—one directly to the right when you walk in, one at the back of the shop to the right of the staircase, as well as one to the left of the staircase. There’s also a mezzanine upstairs. The dressing room is in fact a room itself, with hardwood and four to six individual dressing spaces. Jacob said ceilings were raised, which adds to the airy quality.

I have to say, Jacob is adding a lot of value to the area, from Little Next Door to the revamped Doughboys and bigger Satine. A trio of important businesses, which I agree with him, will be a definite draw to the area. It will also extend the walkability on the area, connecting the Joan’s on Third/Toast/Hillary Rush et al. blocks to west to the Quality/AOC/Trina Turk etc. blocks to the east.
