WWD reported back in May that LA designer Pegah Anvarian had become the new creative director for basics brand Three Dots, good news for those of us who’d happily followed Anvarian and her eponymous label over the years.
In a recent interview with Fashion Rules!, the designer describes the direction in which Three Dots would like to see the label go with Anvarian at the creative helm:
“They [were] looking to make their look fresh and be able to go back in the boutique scene where the label started. They’d widened the scope and gotten into department stores, but they also wanted Three Dots to be hip and directional enough, fashionwise, to be in the interesting boutiques. In other words, they wanted me to add fashion direction.”
And, yes, friends, I’ve seen one fruit of Anvarian’s labors in person, on Des Kohan owner/designer Desiree Kohan, who I chatted with at a recent baby shower. The garment—an extremely soft white scoop neck tee with exposed quilted shoulder pads (shown above left), exclusive to Des Kohan and retailing for around $80. Seriously love it. It looked fantastic with its unexpected sharpness, an elegant edge. Three dots is doing exclusives with Intermix as well, while holding tight to its mid-range price points. I’m looking forward to the Wolford-esque $60-ish seamless leggings for fall, which Anvarian tells Fashion Rules!, “you don’t have to squeeze into them, the way you do with Spanx….I wear them to go to yoga, and they don’t rip, and you can also wear them as tights with boots.” The deep, deep blue leggings with bits of hardware at the ankle, shown after the jump, also look like keepers.
More looks this way…
