In conjunction with the City of LA updating its Bicycle Plan, the Mid City West Community Council Board of Directors recently adopted recommendations for the neighborhood’s bicycle network. Here is a map of the recs, with purple denoting bicycle-friendly local streets, proposed bicycle lanes in dark green (Fairfax, San Vicente, Burton Way), and proposed bicycle routes in orange (Beverly, 6th Street, 4th Street). Definitely go to the map here to get the full effect of the interactive map! Thoughts?

Also, just a note that there’s a Mid City West Land Use Committee meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26 starting at 6:30pm at 543 North Fairfax Avenue, Room 102. The agenda includes items regarding Hatfield’s, Allora (still working on getting its liquor license), the proposal for 819 North La Cienega and others.

The council’s board of directors suggests bicycle lanes for Fairfax, San Vicente, Burton Way (love it), and proposes bicycle routes (bike-friendly commuting streets that are marked with signs and road markings) for 4th Street (already a route), Beverly Blvd. (ok), and 6th Street—a frightening prospect considering how this street turns into a curvy, breakneck speedway all hours save for the morning and afternoon commutes. The new bike lanes on Myra seem like a much safer bet. [Blackburn & Sweetzer/Streetsblog] Share and Enjoy: [...]
