Sketches of the capsule collection from WWD
At the launch of the J Brand shop in shop at Ron Herman, co-founder and designer Susie Crippen mentioned her forthcoming collab effort with LA designer Henry Duarte, and now WWD reports on the capsule collection, “three low-rise skinny jeans styles inspired by David Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ album,” which will hit shops such as Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Intermix and Ron Herman this December and retail for around $250.
Known for his rocker styling and work in denim and leather, Duarte tells the pub: “I wanted to combine my signature details with the simplicity that J Brand is known for, while keeping the jeans wearable and affordable.” The result is three styles—Raygun “in indigo with a shiny spray tint wash” with exposed zippers, custom pulls, seaming and topstitching; Ziggy with “handmade hardware, zipper accents and a soft black wash”; and Suffragette, “a take on Duarte’s signature lace-up front jeans with a pigment rub wash.”
Notably, this comes right on the heals of J Brand’s collab with Hussein Chalayan (also part of the current Ron Herman shop in shop). J Brand co-founder Jeff Rudes tells the fashion trade, the collab is part of a larger “strategy to keep customers curious and interested.”
