Mostly, I’m going to let these pretty pics speak for themselves—a tour of Satine’s new mega, close to 4,000-square-foot space at 8132 West 3rd Street. Owner Jeannie Lee and team have broken the shop into a series of shopping vignettes—shop in shop, shoe salon, TV and living areas, exhibit space, etc—which injects an intimate and homey vibe to the high-ceiling-ed, expansive space. As I mentioned, a shop in shop for celeb stylist Andrea Lieberman’s A.L.C. collection is coming, along with art by Eamon Ore-Giron (which utilizes vinyl and album sleeves) and Steven Bankhead (whose neon piece ‘Pretty Vacant’ is already for sale in-store), and Lee is discussing potential curated spaces with the designers of Whitley Kros and Seneca Rising.
Some highlights from my opening day browsing: Alexander Wang’s textured booties, Balmain buckle boots, side lace-up Erin Wasson X RVCA short-shorts, Life with Bird dot-print graphic jumper, Alaia booties with pebbled hardware, a slew of Whitley Kros‘ perfectly loose tees, and an Alaia corset belt that is not f*cking around.
The opening marks the beginning of what I believe will be an increased hustle and bustle on the block, with Doughboys returning on the other side of El Carmen, Little Next Door practically next door and Kiss My Bundt (which has been receiving a lot of editorial love of late) and Tasca on the same block.
