martinMARTIN’s show at the MOCA yesterday evening delivered what you’ve come to expect from this label: refined and, for the most part, wearable goth inspired clothes. As always there were sleek, refined leather jackets for both genders, long, lean skirts (also for both genders) and pants, everything in the minimalist color palette of shades of black and white.
The designer couple played with transparency, which could be seen all over the runways in New York, Paris and Milan, and this brought a soft, fragile quality to the show. While the see-through dresses might be a bit difficult to translate into everyday life, a beautifully draped black wrap top was definitely a show-stopper, perfect for a dramatic entrance to any black tie event. This season’s knit pieces were also a stand-out, a knee-length grey cape being the perfect cover up for LA’s chilly nights.
