Maxine Dillon opted for an installation at the Los Angeles Theatre, as part of LA Fashion on Broadway, to present her spring 2010 collection—a dozen or so pieces, where gauzy stripes (as if out of focus), feather prints, fringe and dip-dyes landed on dresses, skirts, jumpers, blouses, delicate camis and bodysuits, along with chambray or twill cropped pants. As with past seasons, the designer showed her skill at creating pretty prints with an organic quality. She even brings an earthly feel to crisp buttondowns (which could be worn as a shirt or dress) by dip dyeing from the lower half. I was also happy to see her revisiting the pleated, high-waisted pant; I have a khaki pair (though not cropped), which fit perfectly.
