A Look from The Battalion

Love it or hate it, one of the main characteristics of fashion coming out of LA is its lifestyle/street-style casualness and wearability. Last Thursday, three designers were showing their version of it at Downtown LA Fashion Week—dancer-inspired at The Battalion, rock references at Future Heretics and chic and sleek at Fremont.

The collections this way…

The Battalion took a very feminine route with tutu-skirts and legwarmers in white and grey, as well as soft, flowy dresses in white and black. The pants were skintight and combined with mini vests or low cut shirts.

Slashed T-shirts, lots of denim, cropped tanks and transparency made the Future Heretics show “classic LA,” but in a good way. Of special note were the leather motorcycle jackets in mustard or grey, for both guys and girls—the colors really updated this staple.

Fremont’s vision was the cleanest of the three, especially for the men: a slim silhouette, knee-high boots, fitted blazers in a color palette of neutrals (blue, grey, brown and white) showcased a look slightly more dressy than you would put on the stereotypical Angelino—very refreshing!

note to self: leather loafers + shorts do not work even on a male model.

How about the boots on the other Fremont male model? I think they’re pretty awesome, want ‘em for myself.
