Blackburn + Sweetzer Has Moved

Thanks to a B+S reader who alerted me to the movement at 8383 West 3rd Street, which formerly housed high-end dog collar and leash boutique Weizhi.

Home stylist Tara Riceberg and former owner of Beverly Hill’s decor and lifestyle shop Tesoro will be setting up a holiday pop-up shop, Tesoro Tweak, set to open this Saturday, November 7 through January 15.

The idea is incredibly functional and recession-friendly—products are set up by price from $10-$99, wrapping paper, bow and little embellishment included. “It’s all about the big reveal of the gift,” Riceberg says. “There’s no joy in taking a gift out of a bag with tissue.”

She selects merch with value and smart design in mind, from ceramic sake bombs to DayNa Decker candles, to-do lists in fine Italian leather to upside down planters fit for herbs to orchids. “Store policy is to touch and play with everything, and, if you break something, all you have to say is sorry.”

The boutique will be open 9am-9pm for all those people out and about in the morning. “At that time, there’s parking, and everyone’s out in their car to work, taking their kids to school, or getting a cup of coffee.” (I stopped by on my way to get an Americano from Joan’s, so there you go.) Last holiday season, I made a personal pact to do all my shopping within walking distance, and Tesoro Tweak is going to make it even easier.
