So, back in July, I noticed that the Surya India space at 8048 West 3rd Street had been listed via Conroy Commercial, but received no response from Conroy on the restaurant’s status. At the time, a call to the restaurant failed to yield any info either.

Today, Squid Ink reports that Surya is indeed closing in Mid-December after nine years on the street, but will transfer its menu and chef Assam-born Khem Singh Shahani to sister take-out spot Holy Cow at 8474 West 3rd Street.

In its place, The Burger Factory will open mid-January, offering “a wide range of burgers, beer and wine.” Meanwhile, the space next door, which for a while was going to be the Panini Cafe, says it’s once again leased, but no word on what it will be. And across the street, which for a while was leased to Coffee Bean, is still for lease.

The two other restaurant (one could also be retail) renderings next door (leased) and across the street (for lease)…
