Honestly, I can’t believe it myself. Somehow, the husband and I have never, ever eaten at Cafe Angelino at 8735 West 3rd Street, steps east of Robertson. Part of it is our penchant to not make reservations. We’d walked by before and tried but would’ve had to endure a lengthy wait on empty stomachs, so chose to move on. But this past Friday, we ventured out fairly early and snagged a table before it got incredibly busy about two seconds later. Unusually, we both ordered chicken—I got the grilled chicken sausage with sauteed spinach and roasted potatoes ($14.85); the husband ordered the 1/2 chicken with rosemary and roasted potatoes (astoundingly reasonable for $11, or for an added $1 he could’ve also gotten vegetables).

Mine was tasty and filling, and I enjoyed my sides thoroughly—both spinach and potatoes had a nice crispiness. The husband’s chicken was generously portioned, and he had a piece for leftovers (you can also order a 1/4 chicken for $5.75-$6.75 which would be plenty for most). The bread brought to the table was good, but nothing of particular note. Drinks are also reasonable with wine by the glass from $6.50-$7.50, beer for $3. No dessert for us, but we definitely will be returning.

Notably, there were a number of large groups (6-10 people tables) in the intimate space (which seats around 50 indoor and outdoor?), a good idea considering the well-priced offerings, but this does mean it gets a bit loud. We also noticed there were loads of folks who had clearly ordered for take-out.

The husband’s dinner this way…
