Yesterday, I was walking on La Cienega from San Vicente to Wilshire—an unusual route for me, especially because I don’t frequent the Restaurant Row restaurants—and spotted Darioush on the west side of the street, just north of Wilshire. As it often goes, I figured one of the food blogs would have some bit of info on it, and up popped Grub Street LA from an October 23 item. While there’s not much info, the blog does propose one possibility: “While our first guess is that the food will have a Persian influence from the name alone, we’re wondering (and hoping) that the restaurant could be connected to Napa’s Darioush Winery,” which, per the site, focuses on “a limited production of red Bordeaux varietals and small lots of Chardonnay, Viognier and Shiraz.”

As locals, do you guys go to Restaurant Row a lot? Which restaurants? It’s so close, but never holds much allure for me. Let me know if I’m missing out. This Darioush with its brick exterior does pique my interest.

Like we talked about @ Agura, if the row can be extended to Yabu, then yes, Yabu/Le Petit Bistro, and if you turn the corner, Comme Ca / Lucques… Otherwise, RR is .. blech.

Oh, that poses a good question. I always thought of RR as the area south of San Vicente. I totally agree about restaurants north—am a fan of Le Petit Bistro and Yabu, Comm Ca, definitely!

I’ve been going to Gonpachi on Tuesday nights…all rolls are half-priced. A veggie roll for $3 on RR! Crazy. No drink specials in the restaurant area though..only the bar.

I’ve dined at Boss Sushi before, which is pretty good, although a bit pricey. Tokyo Table has a very reasonable happy hour and that Honey Toast dessert … Yum!

We use to go Lawry’s twice a year but the appeal is gone.
